Ineptkey.pyw Version 4.3

The following link is Ineptkey.pyw 4.3. It is what you need to generate the adeptkey.der file with the new Adobe Digital Editions 1.7.2.

Ineptkey_v4.3.pwy

Using the Python GUI, also called IDLE, open the ineptkey.pyw file and then under the RUN tab, hit the RUN MODULE command. This should get you the Adeptkey needed to break the adobe adept drm on epub files. The file created should automatically save under the python26 directory and be named adeptkey.der.

Then you need to run Ineptepub.pyw. Instructions and download included in the linked post.

and remember, please click on the code tag to see the other posts about DRM removal.

It looks like they have updated ADE again. I get the following error when running ineptkey_v43.pyw: Failed to decrypt user key key (sic). Any suggestions?

Ooph. I wasn't aware of an update. I'll look around and see what I can find. If I find a solution, I'll put up a new post and update and relink from these older ones.

Sigh. A never ending battle :-)

Just checked my ADE, still have 1.72.1131.

What's your flavor?

Thank You, You saved my day! With that script I was finally able to remove DRM from my ebook, on unauthorized ADE 1.7.2.1131 (yes, i'm why-bother-reading kind of guy )
Note to others having similar problem: "Error decrypting book session key" probably means that You're not using a proper version of ineptkey for ineptpdf. Since internal coding in adeptkey.der was changed.
Derrick thanks!

Thanks for the script, I'm unfortunately getting the following error:

WindowsError: exception: access violation writing 0x00000000023F5A90 (this value changes periodically).

Do I need to run the script the first time the PDF is downloaded through ADE or should it work subsequent uses?

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I spent 2 days trying to figure this out and gave it a last shot after finding your blog. Finally I got the file decrypted and I can now read it on my iPhone. No help from the horrible online bookstore I bought it from and refused a refund when after purchasing, revealed that it was ADE only. It is just so sad that they punish honest ebook buyers like us.

Awesome! Thanks so much!

Do you have any information on stripping DRM that was created with Oracle's 'SealedMedia' or is it the same as with the Adobe technology?

Thanks

Hey Andrew,
I haven't a clue. I'd try with the tools meant for ADE. However, if it doesn't work, head over to Alf's,

http://apprenticealf.wordpress.com/

and ask there. That place is a treasure trove for those seeking to own their own files. Just ask your question again under the appropriate blog article...

Is there anyway to generate this file without ADE installed in a linux environment?

Derrick said...

Hey liminial,
as far as I know, it has to have ADE installed, so it can find the appropriate combination to 'your' individual ADE lock.
Sorry...

It doesn't run. It says there is a syntax error on:

except ADEPTError,e:

something to do with the ,

How do I fix it?

Derrick said...

Pake,
head over to http://apprenticealf.wordpress.com/2010/02/11/hello-world
and download the latest version of tools [version 4.8 I believe]. They have help files for each tool telling you how to use it.
